The powerful front presence of Troy Bruno Balthazar is immediatly felt here on Black Black the "LA band by way of Hawaii"'s fourth album to date. A plangentcy that pounds you into morbid obsession. Troy's words groan an admission of self loathing as preservation of life with an oozing sensuality that simmers like a flowering lovestalk. Musically, the band understands this - shaking out a no frills dreary dronefist for each song to unfold simple and affecting in a framework of melodic down tempo sweetness. This is another poignant, definite article of soundhearing. Quite frankly, Chokebore are the new rock denominator.
